Polar Express Day!

Yesterday was Polar Express day at Brighton. The children, and teachers alike, wore their pajamas to school, watched the Polar Express movie, as well as read the book. It was a fun day had by all...one that everyone looks forward to each and every year!

Toys for Tots Update!

Toys for Tots was a great success, and we appreciate all that gave in order to make another child's Christmas brighter this year!

Door Decorating Contest

The doors were decorated by each classroom this year, and all did such a wonderful job! It was our third annual Christmas door decorating contest, and it's up to the parents to determine the winner. This year, first place went to our Infant II program! They did a theme of "Christmas around the World," and did a fantastic job. Congratulations!!!

Toys for Tots

Tis the Season for Giving! Brighton is collecting new toys all week long to donate to Toys for Tots. Bring in your donation by Friday, December 9th to participate in such a great opportunity!

Scholastic Book Fair

Our Scholastic Book Fair began today, and will last through Thursday, December 8th. Be sure to visit the book fair this week and get some great books at great buys just in time for Christmas!!!

Door Decorating Contest

It's that time of year again....our annual door decorating contest! It is always so much fun for each class to be creative in designing and decorating their classroom doors. Voting ends on Friday, December 9th, so be sure to cast your vote this week!

Employee of the Month!

Congratulations to our December employee of the month, Mrs. Olga! She always goes above & beyond to enrich the children's day here at Brighton. We are very honored to have her as one of our Pre-K 3 teachers!

Christmas time at Brighton!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at Brighton Academy. The decorations are being put up, the children are practicing for their Christmas performance, and excitement can be felt all around. Next week, the children will be putting on a performance for their families. Please take note of our performance times on the calendar and make plans to come!

Thanksgiving!

Just a friendly reminder that Brighton will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving on Thursday & Friday. We wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving Holiday!

Recycling!

The children learned about recycling today, and made picture frames with popsicle sticks and newspapers! So creative & adorable!!!

Veteran's Day!

Today, in honor of Veteran's Day, each classroom created their own handmade cards to be delivered to local veterans. We are so very proud of all who have served and are serving our Country, and want to thank them for their dedication and service!

November Employee of the Month

Congratulations to our November employee of the Month, Ana! Ana has been with Brighton for several years now, and always has a smile on her face. She comes in every day with a great attitude, and absolutely loves all of the little ones here. We appreciate Ana very much & our proud to have her as one of our employees!

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip!

Our Pre-K 4 children enjoyed a great field trip today at the Pumpkin Patch! They were able to decorate their own pumpkins, decorate their own cookies to eat, listen to a special story time about Fall, as well as have a picnic lunch. We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather for this great outdoor field trip. It truly felt like Fall! A great, big thank you to the mommies that were able to help with our trip today! Spirit Wear Day at Brighton: Favorite Sport's Teams!

Today the children are showing off their favorite sport's teams! There are a lot of colleges being represented today, but by far, the Texas Longhorns have been the most predominate! Today, the children will be learning about Amelia Earhart, whom the world will always remember for her courage, vision, and groundbreaking achievements, both in aviation and for women. Be looking for some very special crafts coming home today representing her great achievements.

American Eagle Day!

June 20th is American Eagle Day, which is a day for raising awareness for protecting the Bald Eagle! The children will learn about the Bald Eagle & the environment in which they live, by doing fun educational activities & art projects. It should be a fun & exciting day of learning for all!

Flag Day

Celebrated every June 14th in the USA, millions of Americans observe Flag Day by waving Old Glory outside their homes and businesses. Veteran's groups and sometimes whole communities also arrange civic functions and special ceremonies in honor of Flag Day. Although still not an official holiday, Flag Day was made a permanent observance in America in 1949 by Congress who resolved "That the 14th day of June of each year is hereby designated as Flag Day." We believe it's very important to set that example & teach the children by doing some fun flag day activities & lessons that will help them to always observe this important day in history, as well as to always honor "Old Glory."

Kona Ice & Splash Day!

Today Kona Ice came to visit Brighton, and the children enjoyed eating snow cones on this hot summer day, along with having a splash day outside! Kone Ice will be coming every Wednesday this summer...a great treat to look forward to each week!

Brighton PreK 4 Graduation!

Our Pre kindergarten students are having their graduation ceremony today. They have been working very hard on all of their songs and dances, and are extremely excited about being able to walk the stage to receive their diplomas today. Congratulations to all of our graduates! We will miss having you at Brighton, and wish you all the best as you go to kindergarten this next year!

Field Trip to Shadowlake Marsh Experience

Today the Pre-K 4 classes went on an exciting field trip to the Shadowlake Marsh Experience, which is the only restored marshland in The Woodlands! This field trip goes along with our Theme for the month: Meet Me at The Pond!

Teacher Appreciation Day!

Today is Teacher Appreciation Day! We love our teachers, and appreciate all of the hard work that they put in to ensure each child's day is filled with learning, love and fun!

St. Jude's Trike-A-Thon Today!

Today the children are participating in the St. Jude's Trike-A-Thon. Trike-A-Thon is a fun, week-long safety curriculum and fundraising program that supports St. Jude. The program is a great way to teach children valuable riding-toy safety lessons, which they learn from Bikewell Bear® and Pedals the Bunny® through educational materials provided by St. Jude. At the end of the week, children bring their riding-toys to school to celebrate the lessons they have learned and their fundraising success for St. Jude. It is a very valuable lesson that the children will always remember!

Summer Camp for School Age Children!

Summer camp for your school age children is going to be a blast this year! There are so many different fun activities and field trips planned this year....Kona Ice Day, Children's Museum, Potteryland, Playball week and much more. The children will be fascinated by the theme of each day of the week where they will be making discoveries as explorers, experimenting with weird science & becoming famous artists themselves! Happy Easter!

The children really enjoyed the egg hunt, which was donated by the Ladies Auxiliary VFW this morning. Thank you all very much for being so kind to treat our children to a fun Easter tradition. This afternoon, each classroom will be having their Easter parties. Parents are welcome to attend if able. Everyone always looks forward to celebrating these special holidays. Easter Egg Hunt & Parties this Thursday!

The children are getting very excited about our big Easter Egg hunt & Easter parties on Thursday! The eggs for the hunt have been donated by the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, and we are very thankful to all of them for their generous donation!

Leonardo da Vinci's Birthday!

In honor of Leonardo da Vinci's birthday, the children will create some of their own original pieces of art today, all while learning more about this painter, sculptor and inventor! Celebrating different artist's birthdays from the past is a fun way for the children to be exposed to important work of art. Today, they will see one of his most famous paintings, The Mona Lisa.
