Gingerbread House Making Party!

Today the children enjoyed decorating their own gingerbread houses.  All of them had so much fun, and were very creative with their designs!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Brighton Academy!  We are having a door decorating contest this next week that all parent's will vote on.  The teachers and students alike worked hard all week decorating their doors, and did a fantastic job.  Be sure to check out all of the photos on our facebook page!

Barn Yard Fun!

Today was Barn Yard Fun at Brighton.  The teachers had fun activities lined up all day that taught the children about barn yard animals.  The children and teachers alike, had fun dressing up for this special day as well.

Thanksgiving Parties

The children celebrated Thankgiving this past week in their classrooms.  They worked hard making Pilgrim & Indian outfits, then were able to parade them around to the other classes before feasting together.  It was a great learning experience on what Thanksgiving is all about, as well as a fun day for all!

Giggle Bus has arrived!

The Giggle Bus now visits Brighton Academy once a week.  It is a renovated school bus that is filled with fun physical activities for the children.  From a zipline, to a rockwall, to monkey bars, to a stationary bike, this bus has it all!

Fire Truck Visit!

The Woodlands Fire Department came for a visit to teach the children about fire safety, as well as to teach them all about a fire truck!  The children were all given hats at the end of the visit, and had a very fun-filled day!

Brighton's Costume Parade!

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip!

The PreK 4 classes went on a field trip this week to a local pumpkin patch.  All of the children had so much fun decorating their own pumpkins and cookies, as well as having a picnic in this beautiful Fall weather.

Fall is in the air at Brighton Academy!  The children are all having a great time with all of the activities & decorating their classrooms with their very own fall decorations! 

Open House for Brighton-Tuesday September 28th at 6:30!

It is our annual open house tonight at Brighton Academy.  This is a time for all current families to see what their children have been working on thus far this year, as well as for potential families that are looking for a place for their precious little ones every day.  There will be desserts, coffee and time to visit with your children's teachers.  We look forward to seeing everyone tonight from 6:30pm to 7:30pm!

School Picture Day at Brighton!

Today we are having our fall school pictures taken!  It is an exciting day as all the children are anxiously awaiting their turn.  Such a big event for all the little ones!

PreK 3's and PreK 4's Garden Project

The PreK 3's and PreK 4's began their garden project yesterday.  It was an exciting event as each child was able to plant their very own seeds.  They will be responsible every day to water their seeds, and will be able to enjoy watching them sprout and grow right before their eyes!  

September's Theme: Family Tree, Pets and Me!

September's Theme:  Family Tree, Pets and Me!  Start the school year off learning about family and friends. Explore emotions and what makes us feel the way we do. Discover ideas for building friendships while learning through puzzles, cutting activities, and literacy filled fun. Make a family tree and a pet dog, smell grandma's apple pie ingredients and throw a surprise party in this close to home theme.

August Theme

It's hard to believe that summer is already coming to a close!  Our theme for August is:  Little Artists in Europe.  Become a famous artist.  Make masterpieces like Monet, paint laying down like Michelangelo or create your very own style.  This camp goes beyond paint and sets the imagination free with games, music and silly dances that let children wiggle, giggle and express their unique personality.  This is art like never before!

July's Theme:  Little Shopkeepers in Asia!  Toy shops, a garden nursery, jewelry and clothing stores invite children into the life of a shopkeeper. This camp is filled with obstacle courses, games, music, adorable art projects to sell in the make-believe store and little life lessons. Filled with imaginative stories and role-playing, children will love setting up their very own stores, selling kites, bonsai trees and jewelry boxes – at the end of the day, count your money. Recommended community service projects are immersed throughout the camp as well as new ideas for getting outside and enjoying the warm sun.

Splash Day Fridays!

Throughout the entire summer, we are doing a splash day every Friday!  The children have absolutely loved our water day here at Brighton!

Summer activities have been a blast thus far at Brighton!  Today, the children had their faces painted like the animal of their choice.  Other fun activities planned soon are Splash Day Fridays & Teddy Bear Picnic.  The children are really enjoying the summer program filled with fun!

June's Theme: Inventor's Workshop

Hard to believe that summer is already here!  What a fun school year we have had.  We are continuing our monthly themes throughout the summer.  June is all about unlocking the children's imaginations with our "Inventor's Workshop."  From creating their own robots, to becoming original inventors themselves, it is sure to be an amazing & imaginative month!

PreK 4 Graduation 2010!!!

We held our PreK graduation today at Brighton.  The children all did such a great job singing songs for their parents, and speaking on what they learned this year.  Our 2 year olds and 3 year olds came in to sing a farewell song to the 4 year olds as well.  We are so proud of our graduates!!!

Article written about our New Playground Equipment!

All Play, Inc., our local Little Tikes Commercial Distributor, recently wrote an article about the new playground that they installed for us.  The children are thoroughly enjoying their new place to play!  Below, you can read what was published in their newsletter, along with a photo of our new play equipment.  

A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR KIDS AT BRIGHTON ACADEMY 
When a school promises a “safe, clean, age appropriate environment” governed by a philosophy of “learning through play and discovery”, you would expect nothing short of a first class playground to match their top notch curriculum. That’s certainly the case with Brighton Academy, a private school serving the community of The Woodlands, Texas. When school officials began planning improvements to Brighton Academy’s recreation areas, they called on All Play’s John Cole to create a custom design that would fit their existing site plan while still addressing the needs of their students. Cole and his team recommended a new PlayBuilder structure from Little Tikes and the school opted for a natural color scheme to complement the play area’s surroundings. The result is a safe, inviting, kid-pleasing structure that should serve the needs of Brighton’s student body for years to come. Can a Brighton degree in climbing, sliding, and running be next?

Visit from the Dentist!

Dr. Ragsdale's office came to visit Brighton last week.  She brought along some special surprises as well....her very own tooth fairy, dragon with perfect teeth & goody bags for all the children.  Everyone had so much fun dancing & pretending to brush their teeth, all while learning good dental hygiene!  

Our theme for the month of May is Food & Fitness!  Fitness is fun – especially when it includes balls, obstacle courses, silly games and music made for dancing. Fuel the energy with nutritious food. Your children will interact and play with fruits, vegetables, grains, meats and golden eggs. Build a pyramid of healthy food too.  We also have a special visit from Dr. Ragsdale's office to show the children how much fun it is to take care of our teeth!

The St. Jude's Trike-A-Thon was a BLAST for the children last Friday!  They had so much fun riding their bikes at school, and it was all for such a great cause.  Thank you Brighton Families for making this fundraiser such a huge success for St. Jude's!

We are doing the St. Jude's Trike-A-Thon this week at Brighton.  The children are so excited about bringing their bikes to school this Friday to ride them.  Every day, they are learning a little bit more about bicycle safety, and they are raising funds to help support children, like themselves, who are sick.  It is such a great cause, and we are very proud of the kids that have put effort into raising money to help "Brighton" our community a little bit more!

April's Theme for the month is "Cowboys, Dunes & Deserts."  The children will be able to dress as a cowboy or cowgirl for the day, tomorrow, April 9th, for our "Go Western Day."  Their imaginations will run wild throughout the month, as they ride a burrow and make a campfire. Sing along with howling coyotes in the moonlight. Try to find shade beneath their homemade cactus. Close their eyes only to find themselves bumping on the back of a camel. Deserts may be dry, but they are still full of life!

Our Spring Festival & Open house was a HUGE success!  We could not have asked for more perfect "Spring" weather for such an event.  Our 2's, 3's & 4's put on a wonderful music production for us as well that was adorable.  We have posted pictures of our event on our facebook page, so if you have a moment, you can check them out.  Thank you to all who came out to the festival and supported us!

Brighton Academy's Spring Festival & Open House is this Saturday, March 27th from 10 am - 12 pm.  It will be a day filled with fun, games, food, music and much more!  This festival is not only for our current students, but is open to the public as well.  We would love for all of you to come and share in this free, fun-filled day with your family!

Going on a Safari in the Month of March!

The Month of March takes all at Brighton on a Safari.  Click!  Elephant.  Click!  Giraffe.  Click!  Zebra.  Your preschoolers won't be able to put their handmade cameras away on this exciting safari.  Play drums, roar with lions and hunt for colors in the African grasslands.  It will be quite an adventure!

Today is the last day that we will be offering the special of no enrollment or supply fees!  This amounts to a savings of $150.00.  If you have not already taken advantage of this incredible deal, make sure it does not pass you by!

Brighton donates to local Animal Shelter

Our children have been conducting a drive for a local animal shelter.  They are extremely excited about personally delivering all items in the next few days.  While the children are there, they will get a personal tour of the shelter, and see with their own eyes how big of a difference they are making for our "Furry Friends."

Tae Kwon Do & Monster Gymnastics at Brighton

Our new extra-curricular activities have started off with a bang!  The children are really enjoying the Tae-Kwon Do and Monster Gymnastics that have come to our center.  Both activities bring a bundle of physical activity, self-discipline and fun for each and every child.  

All Enrollment Fees Waived for the Month of February!

Brighton is running a special this month!  Most of us have been effected in one way or another by these hard economic times with which we are in.  We are doing our best to help ease the strains that the cost of childcare can bring.  For this entire month, all registration fees will be waived for every new student that enrolls at our preschool / daycare center.  This is an incredible amount of savings to be had.  Please help spread the word to everyone you know of this great opportunity that has come their way!  

"Furry Friends"

It is hard to believe that it is already February!  My how time flies when you are having fun!  This month's theme is "Furry Friends."  The children will discuss things like:  "Do you sleep in the day and play at night? Do you have a pouch to carry your most precious treasure?"  They will learn all about mammals in this hands-on theme. Explore how some mammals live on land, others in the sea. Run with cheetahs, swim with dolphins, and save an endangered Panda. There are many exciting learning experiences that will warm your heart as your child falls in love with furry friends!

Dinosaur Dig!

We have kicked off the New Year with a great start.  This month's theme is "Dinosaur Dig."  Let the digging begin. Children will immerse their imaginations in prehistoric times. They will make wings and fly with pterodactyls, hunt for leaves with their baby triceratops, and help their friend T-rex find safety from the exploding volcano!  It should be a fun-filled month full of adventure!
